E-commerce Application Developer (Seattle Office)

Destination Lighting is building a dynamic, agile development team to create innovative e-commerce experiences. We are seeking an energetic e-commerce application developer to join our growing team. Located in historic Pioneer Square in the Seattle Lighting Building, you'll be just steps away from all major transportation hubs & the International District. This position is perfect for motivated developers eager to learn and gain experience working with a complex production e-commerce environment, which leverages a variety of technologies and integrations with other enterprise applications and services. The successful candidate will be exposed to the entire process of a robust e-commerce division. You will not just be in a cube farm, handed task after task. You will be part of the "dream it - build it" process. Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality code optimized for scalability and performance
  • Develop new internal applications, scripts and tests to automate E-Commerce operations
  • Engineer new ways to simplify or improve our processes
  • Develop deep problem solving skills using root cause analysis techniques
  • Test, debug and apply fixes to our e-commerce website

Requirements:

  • Experience in at least one statically typed language, Java preferred
  • Well versed in HTML, CSS and web standards
  • Skilled at debugging web pages
  • Good design sensibilities and awareness of UX best practices
  • Experience with relational databases, preferably MySQL

Preferred Experience:

  • Any of the following: Spring, MySQL, Apache 2 server, Apache Tomcat, Linux server environments, Java build tools (Ant, Maven, Gradle), source control (SVN, Git), advanced Excel
  • Experience with MVC architecture and MVC frameworks, preferably Spring
  • Experience in web languages, including HTML, CSS and Javascript/jQuery
  • One or more of the following languages: Python, Ruby, PHP, Perl, Go, Groovy
  • Payment system integration, including PayPal, Google Wallet, Amazon Payments, etc.
  • Securing Web applications
  • Experience with agile development methodologies

Customer Service Lighting Specialist

Destination Lighting is a leading online lighting and home furnishings retailer. We are looking for a detail oriented Customer Service Agent for phone and email support. The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, have a positive attitude and have strong communication skills, especially in written form. The person must be knowledgeable and comfortable using the Internet and web base programs, email programs and MS Office products. Minimum one year customer service or call center experience required. Lighting knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing outstanding support to customer inquiries by email and phone
  • Assist customers in site navigation, product questions and order entry
  • Research shipping and billing inquires
  • Monitor trouble queues and resolve outstanding issues
  • Process return requests

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience
  • Minimum 1 year customer service or call center experience
  • Superior customer service and communication skills, written and verbal
  • Excellent computer literacy (Internet, email and MS Office skills)
  • Lighting knowledge a plus
