Lightovation at the Dallas Market Center is a biannual exhibition of the best lighting design in the industry. This year, our team went to Market and returned inspired by new collections and collaborations, as well as trending styles and finishes in residential lighting.<\/p>\n

Staying Power<\/h2>\n

This year’s Lightovation cemented the place of black finishes, mixed metals, clear, seedy, or textured glass, linear, open frame fixtures, and oversized rings and orbs as design staples.<\/p>\n

Black Finishes<\/h3>\n

“Black was everywhere. Either black by itself, or black fixtures with satin nickel, chrome, or aged brass accents.” – Mike Mitchell, General Manager of Dolan Designs<\/a>. If you’ve been hesitant to incorporate black finishes in your home decor for fear that they’ll go out of style, now is the time to buy in confidence. This look\u00a0is both fresh and classic and we think its safe to say that this is no longer a trend, but a design staple.<\/p>\n

Mixed Metals<\/h3>\n

Mixed metals are a designer favorite that is only gaining popularity. One of the great benefits of a mixed metal fixture is that it makes it easier to match your existing hardware, accents, and other light fixtures. If you are looking to update your chandelier but are not ready to replace your pendants, hardware, and color scheme, a fixture with mixed metal finishes is your perfect solution. “I loved the blend of multiple finishes within single fixtures. Mainly, black mixed with brass and gold finishes seemed to be trending.” – Kelly Kirkland, Globe Lighting. Other popular combinations are black with chrome and black with satin nickel.<\/p>\n
