Setting the mood for the perfect breakfast nook
Breakfast is quite simply, the best meal of the day. It also happens to be the most important, which is great because we can eat a ton of bacon and have it still be socially acceptable. And to top if off, breakfast is one of the rare times that you and the rest of the family can actually get to sit down, have a meal and spend some “QT” together. That’s why we thought we’d like to show you some interesting ways to create the perfect breakfast nook.
There’s enough chaos that goes on in the morning, so designing the ideal breakfast nook is key. We love breakfast nooks for the same reason we love handmade pancakes made from scratch; they’re warm, cozy and comforting. Plus, anytime we can eat food in our pajamas is a win in our book.
The first thing to remember about breakfast nooks is that they should be inviting, which means picking out the best lighting possible. The last thing you want at 7:00 am in the morning is a light blinding you while you’re still half asleep trying to enjoy your coffee.
We looked at a lot of different styles, and hand picked some of our favorites just for you. All of these fixtures have the essential design elements to jazz up your nook space while providing your loved ones a reason to spend a little more time at the breakfast table.
The Schoolhouse look
Inspired by the classic designs of our childhood years, the schoolhouse look is bringing back a vintage, nostalgic charm to kitchens everywhere. Pendant lights such as this one can hang effortlessly above your table and give you all the light you’ll ever need in your cozy space.
Craftsman style
We love the craftsman look, which took off in the early 1900’s as a look that personified the American working class. Craftsman style lights capture a distinct authenticity, as if someone built the light with their own two hands.
Modern
A modern light for the modern homeowner. If your design sense is all about clean lines, interesting textures, and minimalism, going with a modern style light will do wonders for completing your design. It’s a perfect blend of chic and comfort, making your space feel open and inviting.
Classic Traditional
There’s a style out there for everybody and this particular style is characterized by one thing: luxury. If high-end elegance describes your home, then every element of your room should signal class and sophistication. The most popular way to convey this with lighting is by adding a classic crystal chandelier to your corner nook. With the right mix of colors, texture and class, it’s very possible to turn your little nook into the nicest area in the house.
Try out and pin some of these styles to your breakfast nook mood board, and let us know what you think.
