3-Inch Recessed Lights

Since the 1980s, lighting designers and home builders have increasingly opted for the clean and uncluttered appearance of recessed lighting over more traditional luminaires such as chandeliers and sconces. For those seeking a more unconventional lighting platform, 3-inch canister lighting gives plentiful illumination yet circumvents dark spots that may occur by using typical lighting fixtures. Retrofitting to 3-inch canisters from 6-inch canisters is a straightforward task and one that can be completed in mere hours. Usually 3-inch canister lighting is the smallest diameter of recessed lighting commercially available although there are specialty uses for smaller sizes. Using 3-inch recessed lighting can make small rooms appear larger and add atmosphere and depth to space. Note that in particular, 3-inch recessed lighting should be installed closer to walls than in the center of a room. Each housing should be placed three feet apart for proper dimension and maximum effect. Destination Lighting has a number of 3-inch recessed lighting kits available; some are Energy Star certified and use LED technology to ensure the greatest in energy efficacy and savings. Choose finishes in satin nickle/satin chrome, black and white tones and from trusted manufacturers such as Juno and Designers Fountain. All can be installed in damp locations and some are even engineered to more stringent standards for wet or extreme environmental applications.
